On many of my tutorials I go through the process of downloading and using custom fonts, often trying to get the right feel to a project. In these circumstances I’ll go to a free online font vendor and download something that meets the look and feel of the project.

A few weeks ago I stepped down from my position of moderator at photoshopforums.com to focus on other things including writing and recording more tutorials for this site. During my 27 months at PhotoshopForums.com I wrote 13 quick-fire tutorials for the Tutorials and Featured Tips section, some of them, I'm pleased to say, receiving over 5000 views.

In this tutorial I'll demonstrate two popular methods of creating a matrix style backdrop and adding larger text to the foreground. The first method involves the use of a text editor and layer masks, while the second only uses filters and colour adjustments - and is therefore probably better suited to Photoshop Elements users. The matrix fonts can be found below in the support files. Unfortunately, the image showing the backdrop of code hasn't come out too good in the video tutorial, but I can assure you - it is there! Good luck.
