Auto levels in CS3

I can't use auto levels in cs3 without everything turning red. I have tried everything and only get the same results. What am I doing wrong??

Hi John,
Maybe your base colours got misaligned at some point?
Open up Levels and click 'Options', and make sure your highlights, midtones and shadows swatches are set at the correct colours (and not red). These should be white, midtone grey, and black.
