Flashing Text
Hi,
I have a question regarding the frame delay time in "Save for Web".
I followed Matt's tutorial recently on flashing text using five separate layers so I could see each different layer and it's background color effects. I was successful in my attempt but unfortunately, I could not move the frame delay up or down from the current 0.2 time frame.
I can see each and every frame or layer (each frame of text is with a specific color as a background) at the bottom of the form.
Am I not to have the option of changing my time frames per second to a higher value to see each frame a bit longer? As it is, the text is fine but the colors flash or advance so fast it is almost a blur (not an actual a blur). I would like to slow it down to see what it looks like at a slower interval but can't seem to solve this particular problem.
Also, how does one post their etchings or material (like my text animation) here on this forum so others can comment or see what I they have created - good or bad.
Please be specific if you reply as I am not up on all the new lingo or moves here regarding HTML or what ever and may need a bit of direction as to what to do and where to click, etc. All I need is direction, patience, a bit of room to maneuver.
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Matt,
It has been confirmed that both PSE 6 & PSE 8 for Mac have this problem.
See TechNote - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333620.html that I received from another party.
No, I have not had any success with the cursor changing the delay value and keeping it there when trying to watch the animation. I can change the value but it reverts back to the .02 when you click OK or when viewing in animation.
I have been told that another possible way to correct this is with multiples of the same layer. If you have five layers, then you would need a multiple of each layer to get around this problem. I have not tried this possible solution yet, but will give it a go sometime soon (you have five layers with multiple layers of the same or each layer you want to animate - say five layers times five multiples of the same layer five times). Hope I made sense here. If you didn't, I will try again.
Regarding attaching files to this forum: Hopefully you can come up with a solution.
I have looked at this particular web site and used it to upload pictures to another forum. It works quite well when I want to show a picture of a photo I what to share on that forum. Or a photo of part of a tutorial that I am working on and may be having a problem with, - say I didn't know how to set up a specific area of the tutorial in use and need help - uploading a picture of my setting, color, you name it - it is so easy. I like the convenience and it is free.
Here is the site: http://www.pixentral.com/ Hope it helps.
Thanks for any help you can pass my way and hopefully the above site will help you in some way as it has helped me.
Kind regards, Jim
Hi Matt,
I thought I would post a couple of samples using Pixentral"s web site. Just click on either photo and you will see how it works.
Again the main web site is: http://www.pixentral.com/

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the info regarding the bug, it's sad that Adobe haven't fixed it with an update, especially seeings as it's down to a faulty product.
Unfortunately I can't seem to get the links you've provided to work, any chance you could take another look at them?
Regards
Matt
Hi Matt,
Try the link again. The main web site is: http://www.pixentral.com/
I was informed the link was down for a while. Pixentral is now working fine.
The company that hosts the servers moved them, and screwed something up in the process.
They fixed the problem, so hopefully everything is back to normal.
I really do like this site as it is so user friendly. I use it when ever I need to up load a photo to a forum.
Here are my directions for posting a photo to a forum like this one. Hopefully there are no mistakes!
Please remember this: I am using an iMac - not a PC - my directions may be a bit different if you're following along using a PC. If in doubt, think what PC keys corresponds to my Mac keys and try it.
Now to business:
To post an image to a forum:
1. Go to this web site: click on www.pixentral.com
2. When it open - Click "Choose File" button (just to the right of "your image").
3. Navigate to where your photo is stored ( the one you wish to up load), click on the photo you wish to upload - at the bottom of the page, click on the "Choose" button.
4. You are now back at the Pixentral site with the path to your photo shown in the former blank area (immediately to the the right of the "Choose File" button).
5. Now click the "Send" button (just to the right of your photo to be uploaded).
6. Once your photo is uploaded (you'll see it on the screen - it may take a moment or two - be patient) - scroll down to the bottom of the photo where you'll see two lines of text - each inside it's own box - one says "HTML" and the other says "Forum".
7. Copy all of the text in the "Forum" box. (Highlight all of the forum text by triple clicking on the text or drag your mouse all the way from the first character to the last character of the text - be sure all of the text is copied or it won't work).
8. Click Command "C" to copy it.
9. Go to the forum of you choice, paste your link (click Command "V").
10. Preview everything before you submit it by clicking the "Preview Post" button at the bottom of the forum.
13. If it looks okay, press the Submit Reply or Save button to send it along with any text you have already included on the forum.
14 "Congratulations" - You have now posted to a forum. How easy was that?
Regards, Jim
That's a great explanation Jim, thanks for taking the time to do it.
Still no luck with your link above though, seem to get an error message when I click it?
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the praise. It is much appreciated.
Regarding the link - copy and paste this URL in your URL header - click enter.
http://www.pixentral.com/ If this is not what you were referring to, please drop me a private message. I'll respond.
Example using Pexentral:
I have up-loaded a photo of the front page of the Pexentral site - this is what you will see when you first upload it. You will notice the "choose file" button - this is the button you press to find the photo you want to up-loaded that is on your hard drive.
Next, bellow are two examples of what you will see after you have chosen your up-loaded photo(s) and clicked the "send button". This is the next step or stage - see the "Forum Box" (box at bottom) below each photo which must be highlighted and copied (command C- the entire URL) end to end. Once you have copied the entire URL (that is shown within the "Forum box"); I must emphasize the "importance of copping the entire URL - paste (command V) this URL to your forum, if successful, it should now be posted to your forum.
Now, click on "preview" and see if you have everything correct. Here is where you make any corrections before you send or save to your forum. If your in doubt as to whether your URL up-loaded successfully, click on the URL that you see posted (in the review stage) - to see if it up-loaded successfully and is what you want, it should come up if done correctly.
Oh, one more thing, using this site, you can up-load only one picture or photo at a time. No multiple photo up-loads at the same time. Below - I up-loaded each photo separately - two different sizes so you can see that photo size is important. I don't believe there is any up-load limit (number of shots) but you do have to have a reasonable size before up-loading or it won't proceed and it will tell you this when your photo is too large. Just try to use common sense. Any questions, drop me an email.
Click on either photo and see the "Forum Box" below each photo that need to be copied to this forum so you can see my two photos. Each up-loaded photo will have a different URL in it's "Forum box".
If you are satisfied with your up-loads (meaning one or more), click the button that saves them to the forum.
You are now done.
Just so everyone is on the same page - I use and up-loaded using an iMac, but I don't think it makes any difference what computer manufacture you use.
Regards, Jim (JAW)
Thanks Jim, that's some great advice right there. I'll give it a try!

Hi Jim,
Sorry it's taken me a few days to respond.
I've done a bit of digging and found that some users have experienced a strange bug with the time delay on the Mac version of Photoshop Elements. To cure, try this solution-
Hover the cursor just below the 0.2 text until the cursor switches from an arrow to a proper cursor. Now try clicking and you should find the value (0.2) becomes highlighted. You can now change the value to whatever you want.
Let me know if you have any success with that solution?
Unfortunately there's no facility for users to attach files (although I may look at this in the future). Thre only way to do it is to use a site such as photobucket to host the image, and then use the generated link from their site to show the image in your post over here. It's not ideal but like I say, I'm reviewing how all that works at the moment.
The other way to show us how far you've got is to send me the file (admin at the name of the site dot com) and I'll post it on this thread.
Hope that helps
Matt
