I have volunteered for a school project not thinking that it would be that hard and boy was I wrong. We are assisting a special needs class in making some digital image jewelry for a fund raiser. I have PSE 8 and thought I could figure this out. Not. I need to make digital collage sheet templates each page an 8 x 11 filled entirely with one sheet 1" circles, another sheet with 1"x1" squares and etc. Need to be able to import images onto shapes of the template to make an entire sheet of the same image or different images as well.
I have searched and watched many tutorials all with different versions of Elements or they are just Photoshop tutorials. It could be the different versions making it different for me not to mention I am new. The computer class at school can not fit this project in their schedule until after we plan to have this fund raiser over. Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!
I plan on trying to learn more and hope to enjoy this program but I'm in a hurry :P

Circles & Strokes

Hi shamrocklady,

First of all welcome to the site, it's good to have you.

It sounds like you need to start of with the right size document, if you're printing to A4 then make sure you select it from the preset menu inside the 'New Document' dialogue box. Once you've got the document set up in A4, activate the rulers by going to View > Rulers. Right click on the rulers once they are visible and change the type of measurement to inches. Now you should be able to create a series of guides by simply dragging them out from the rulers, get these lined up to how big you need them (they don't print so create as many as you need).

Once you have all the guides set up, grab the Circular Marquee Tool from the toolbox on the right, zoom in and draw a circle where you need it. You can also go to View > Snap to help you position the circles properly. Now you need to turn those selections into circles, so go to Edit > Stroke Selection to draw a printable line around the circular selection outline.

Hopefully this will get you started, let me know how you get on or if this isn't what you're looking for?

Matt, Thank you that was a

Matt,
Thank you that was a good suggestion. Most amazing thing, I purchased templates on etsy.com
We bought one template of a 1 inch circle that enables you to place a photo or image underneath the circle template.
We then save the image and bring it over to a grid sheet, and fill the sheet with the same or different images.
We now need more sizes of circles like 2" and some rectangles and squares as well. We don't mind purchasing from etsy but would like to know how to make a template so that we could do that ourselves.
I think this fund raiser is going to be a hit, we have all of our supplies ready :) If there is any assistance you could provide to help us be able to make our own template I would greatly appreciate it. The template is only one circle or square of a particular size. It wasn't a full sheet of circles or squares like I had thought but at that time I really did not know how to make a collage sheet.
I really like this method now, if I only knew how to make a template with the cookie cutter I'll be in business. I have tried but have not really accomplished anything yet.
Thank you again!

Possible with Cookie Cutter

Hi shamrocklady,

Glad to hear you're making progress. I'll help where I can.

It should be possible with the cookie cutter tool. Open an A4 document, change the rulers to inches/centimetres as above, and then change the shape options of the tool to fixed size and enter the measurements.

Give it a go.

Regards

Matt
