Hello Matt, just got Elements 8 and looking for really basic advice.
My usual workflow is -
Transfer photos from my camera (Nikon nef always) into Windows pictues where I then check them and delete the rubbish.
I then transfer them to a working file on my portable HD (where all my images are stored in named folders)
Next I edit them in Nikon Capture NX2 before saving as Tiffs in the appropiate HD folder.

I havent yet grasped the basic concept of doing this in Elements.
I have a catalogue and have moved some files to it but I cannot see how to use the folders on the left of the elements screen which show the folders of my hard drive but dont seem active.
If you can understand what I am trying to say I would be grateful for a Mickey Mouse type workflow from the actual beggining, seems very complex compared with using Capture NX2

Thanks for looking

Dave

Camera Raw for Elements

Hi Dave,

Have you seen my video tutorial on the Photoshop Elements Organiser? If not check that out first as it will give you a good foundation of information for getting images into Elements. I used version 6 but 8 should be the same.

Do you use or have access to the Camera Raw plugin for Elements, I think that should be a part of your workflow if you're using Raw images. I'd basically import from your camera directly into the Organiser, and use Elements / Raw plug in to process the images and the organiser itself to delete the ones you don't require. You can also back up directly from the Organiser too.

Hope that helps

Matt
