Photoshop Elements and Lightroom together

Hello,
I am a beginner photographer with Photoshop Elements 7, and Lightroom 3 on the way. I have little experience with both.
Can someone point me to a tutorial or guide me along, to get my head around a couple things?
With what I have read I can upload my pictures into Lightroom, and edit them. How can I then use that edited photo, and import it into Photoshop Elements to further work on the picture?
What file extensions work between the 2? Then should the final product be saved as a Jpeg, or something else?
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Wayno.

Elements & Lightroom Workflow

Hi Wayne,

For the workflow you're hinting at I'd suggest opening the file in Lightroom, carrying out all the adjustments that you can there, and then saving as a TIFF. You can then open the TIFF in Photoshop Elements, carry out the adjustments that you want to make there, and then save into whatever format you want, so either a PSD to retain layers, a TIF for serious achiving, or JPEG for storing on your hard drive.

While you're new to the software, I'd warn against overwriting or deleting anything.

Hope that helps

Cheers Matt.

Thank you for your advice. I'll certainly put it to practise.

Good work with the tutorials. I am working my way through viewing them slowly...

Variety is the Spice of Life!

No Probs Wayne, glad I could help.

I will also say that workflows are largely personal and vary person to person. The best advice I can give is to try some different things and stick with whatever works best.

Good luck

Sharpening tools

Hi Matt,

I downloaded some sharpening actions as an atn file. How and where can I save these sharpening tools so I can use them in Photoshop elements 7?

Cheers.

Actions pallette on PSE 7

Hello Matt,
I am progressing slowly through your tutorials, and others in books I have purchased.
The question I have is to do with Actions on my PSE 7.
I cannot find the buttons to record actions.
The file set up on the You Tube video you posted is different to mine. So I'm also struggling to load up others peoples actions.
Hope you can help. I use Windows 7.
Cheers.

Actions in Photoshop Elements

Hi Wayno,

Sadly you can not record actions in Photoshop Elements but you can play them if created inside the full version of Photoshop. The video I have on you tube, which I believe is this one-

http://www.3photoshop.com/basic-actions-video-tutorial-photoshop

was recorded in the full version of Photoshop (CS3 I believe).

Hope that clears things up.

Hi Matt, Thanks for that. The

Hi Matt,

Thanks for that. The full version of Photoshop looks like what I should be to ivesting in.

One of the photos I have taken would look great with a tilt-shift. Can I assume that PSE 7 cannot perform this taks? If not, can you suggest an action that will perform this on my version of Photoshop?

Cheers,

Wayno.

Hi Wayno,

I'm not sure what you mean by a tilt-shift? I'm sure whatever you're after Photoshop Elements can play a part. Give me some more detail and I'll do my best to guide you into the right direction.

G'day Matt, With tilt shift I

G'day Matt,

With tilt shift I was thinking of tilt shift photography. Where a life-sized location or subject looks like a miniature-scale model.

I was using a tutorial and I couldn't find the Quick Mask Mode.

Hope I have explained myself a little better.

Cheers,

Wayno.
